Artist Bios

Hi there. 

Welcome to my little creative outlet. 

My name is Scott and I was born and raised in rural Illinois. I thru hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2002 and left Illinois for Western North Carolina shortly thereafter. I had not planned on leaving Western NC but I fell in love and married a Vermonter instead. I consider it to be the greatest change in plans to happen to me.

Professionally, I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist (I work in a hospital lab). I love what I do. Un-professionally, I spend most of my free time in the mountains and forests. The forest is my chapel and drug of choice. I love two wheels. Mountain biking, road, gravel and jeep trails, snow and even some motorcycling too. Maybe I’m an adrenaline junky but it's probably more the calm before and after the adrenaline rush that I love.

I started making earrings because Jess wanted me to make her a Christmas gift. I had just found an Instagram maker and was inspired (@brambleswoodworking). I started by using what was available and that ended up being twiggy branches from autumn pruning. My very first pair, however, was made from cannabis twigs. It is Vermont after all. After Christmas 2025, I made some more for my co-workers and they convinced me to keep going. 

One of my main goals is to have a creative hobby to help me stay off social media, but what we are learning is that having a business involves social media these days. I don’t expect to get rich doing this but I do hope to make pretty things that people enjoy.
